I was searching biblegateway during lunch today,
and I found something interesting.
I think this was something that pastor has preached on before.
Stumbled upon Ecclesiates 9 today.
The context was talking about how the righteous and wise, as well as their works, are in the hands of God.
Then it went on to talking about the people of the world (life under the sun), whether righteous or wicked, good and bad happen to all, which doesn’t make sense.
This was what Solomon advice how we should live our lives:
v7 – Go, eat your BREAD with joy, And drink your WINE with a merry heart; [bread & wine] For God has already accepted YOUR [Alef-Tav, Jesus is the A&Z, the alpha and omega, beginning and end] works.
v8 – Let your garments always be WHITE [garments of praise; linen clothe, Jesus' righteousness], And let your head lack no OIL [oil of gladness, joy in believing that you've been made righteous].
v9 - LIVE JOYFULLY with the wife whom you love all the days of your vain life which He has given you under the sun, all your days of vanity; for that is your portion in life, and in the labor which you perform under the sun.
v10 - Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.
v11 - I returned and saw under the sun that—
The race is not to the swift,
Nor the battle to the strong,
Nor bread to the wise,
Nor riches to men of understanding,
Nor favor to men of skill;
But time and chance happen to them all.
Wows! To me, that’s like, live your life happy! How to begin your day?
v7a – Lift up the broken body of Jesus with joy, knowing that He has borne all your diseases and carried all your sorrows.
V7b – Take up the cup of salvation, the cup of the covenant, His blood, shed for the remission of sins. Drink merrily because your sins have been forgiven you!
v7c – For God has already accepted your works.
- Let me rephrase in hebrew. “For God has already (long ago, a great while) accepted your (ALEF-TAV) works.” God has already accepted Jesus’ perfect sacrifice at the cross long ago.
v8a – Always cloth yourself in His righteousness at all times
v8b – And let your head lack no joy because you’ve been made righteous
v9 – Live joyfully in life with your family for that’s your portion
v10 – Whatever work you find to do, do it with all your might
v11 – Trust God for His divine favour to put you at the right place and right time.
Daily, we would get up have breakfast, dress up, put perfume and go to work right?
Spiritually, lets begin the day by partaking of the broken body, and drinking of His blood, clothe ourselves with His righteousness and let our day lack no joy (being filled with the consciousness that we’ve been made righteous through His works). =)
